Floor-mounted Perimeter Demarcation

Per Section 1024.2.4, exit enclosures shall get equipped with either floor-mounted or wall-mounted perimeter demarcation lines. Generally wall-mounted perimeter demarcation lines are preferred, as an installation on the wall in low location is away from the dirt that naturally accumulates on the floor: all that dust gets pushed along the landing edges by foot-traffic.

Section 1024.2.4.1 details floor-mounted perimeter demarcation lines to be placed within 4 inches of the wall and extend to within 2 inches of the leading edge markings of a landing. The marking shall continue across the floor in front of all doors, except doors that lead out of an exit enclosure through which occupants must go to finish their exit path.
