The week of August 9-13 is the official OSHA Safe + Sound Week in 2021. This week is a nationwide event to recognize the adoption of programs to improve workplace safety and health. Implementing a safety and health program can improve businesses’ safety and health performance, save money, and improve competitiveness.
At American PERMALIGHT® we believe safety and preparedness go hand-in-hand, so we’re looking forward to officially participating in this year’s Safe + Sound Week from OSHA. Your organization can join us by signing up on OSHA’s website here. Scroll down to learn how your business can participate and improve safety this week and beyond.
Ways to Stay Safe + Sound this Week
- Encourage employees to communicate any workplace safety hazards to a supervisor or manager year-round.
- Take a walk around your business and find and fix workplace hazards such as frayed wires, water leaks, slipping hazards, and more. Prevent slips with one of our anti-slip floor solutions.
- Offer a training course on safety and health in your workplace.
- Cover any sharp metal corners and edges on metal racks, filing cabinets, shelves, and more with our safety foam guards and protective corners.
- Check fire extinguishers to ensure they’re not expired, and if they are, get them recharged. Consider adding or updating your fire extinguisher location sign to one of our photoluminescent fire extinguisher signs.
- Check your businesses’ emergency kit supplies. If there are missing or expired items, replace them. If you need ideas on what to include in your kit, check out the basic disaster supply kit list at Ready.gov.
- Further, encourage your employees to create their own emergency supply kits at home, so they can be additionally prepared for emergencies that may happen there.
- Ensure that your employees know where your emergency exits are, and what the plan of escape is in case of fire or another emergency/disaster. Need help creating a photoluminescent egress/exit path? Contact us to get in touch with PERMALIGHT® Certified Installer Partner in your area.
